Of particularly pleasing proportions, the caster has an impressive total weight of 391.7 grams, giving it a substantial quality and satisfying heft in the hand. The body retains its original engraved family crest, adding character and a tangible connection to its Georgian heritage.

The silver displays a lovely colour developed through age, while the elegant pierced cover is complemented by corresponding maker's touch marks to the lip. The principal hallmarks to the base remain clear and provide excellent identification of the London assay, date and maker.

Dating to the reign of George II, this is a genuine piece of 18th-century English silver with considerable decorative appeal.
