George II Sterling Silver Salver London 1749 William Hunter Footed Tray 22oz

George II Sterling Silver Salver London 1749 William Hunter Footed Tray 22oz

A superb George II sterling silver salver, hallmarked London 1749 and bearing the maker’s mark WH, attributed to William Hunter I. Exceptionally elegant in form and craftsmanship, this fine mid-18th century silver salver displays the refined rococo influence characteristic of the Georgian period.

The shaped circular tray is beautifully framed by an ornate scrolling border with shell and foliate detailing, raised on three integrated feet which provide both balance and presence. Crafted from silver of excellent gauge with a rich attractive colour throughout, the salver possesses the quality and weight expected from distinguished Georgian table silver.

The hallmarks remain particularly clear and well defined, adding greatly to both authenticity and collector desirability. To the underside, the piece bears an early engraved owner’s inscription reading “D + Horry”, enhancing its period character and sense of provenance.

Weighing an impressive 698.2 grams (22.44 troy ounces), this substantial George II salver is ideal for collectors of early English silver, Georgian tableware and important antique decorative pieces.

A highly desirable example of 18th century London silver with strong decorative appeal and enduring investment quality.
